What is a split sheet?

A split sheet records who contributed to a song and what percentage of the songwriting each person owns. Signing one at the session prevents disputes later and is what publishers and PROs expect when you register a work.

Can I download it as a PDF?

Yes — one tap exports a clean, signable PDF (with a signatures section), generated right in your browser. Many split-sheet sites paywall the PDF; it's free here. You can also print.

What's a PRO and IPI number?

A PRO (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, PRS, SOCAN…) collects performance royalties; your IPI/CAE is your unique ID within it. Capturing each writer's PRO + IPI on the split sheet makes registering the song far easier.

Do the percentages have to add up to 100?

Yes — the songwriting splits should total 100%. This tool shows the running total and flags it if you're over or under.

Is this legal advice?

No. This is a free template to document an agreement between collaborators. For high-stakes releases, have a music attorney review it.
